For us a great guest blog is something that entertains, informs and celebrates diversity. We believe in great content that people want to share and we hope your submission will increase the quality and improve the learning resources for our site. If you’re unsure of our message we’ve added our mission and aims below so that you have a clear idea of our mission

Aims and Objectives of Link Up UK

1. To promote awareness and respect for the contribution that different communities have made and continue to make to the history and traditions of Britain.

2. To combat prejudice, negative stereotypes and discrimination.

3. To build a shared sense of belonging, by engaging with those who feel concerned about their  place in society

4. To increase our impact by developing effective partnerships with communities and cross sector

5. Continually looking for innovative ways to bring communities together

Here are some basic guidelines for Guest Bloggers

Style: Your blog in your own voice. We understand you have a certain style, narrative, approach, we’ve asked you to write for us because we’re interested in your perspective and because you have something to say.

Theme/Topic: We usually programme our web and social media a few months in advance so we will often come to you with a topic in mind, but there may be other options you wish to discuss and we’re always open to suggestions.

Exceptions: We ask that your articles abide by the rules in social media and blog comments

Disclaimer

We add a standard disclaimer (below) to all guest pieces and posts which states thatthe views expressed are your own and don’t necessarily reflect those of Link Up (UK).

‘The opinions expressed by the guest writer/blogger and those providing comments are theirs alone, and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Link Up (UK) or any employee thereof. Link Up (UK) is not responsible for the accuracy of any of the information supplied by the Guest writer/bloggers. This work is the opinion of the blogger. It is not the intention of Link Up (UK) to “malign any religion, ethnic group, club, organization, company, or individual.”

Promotion

Before: We will use the week before your article to raise awareness via social media. “Make sure you drop by tomorrow to see our fantastic guest post”

During: We will promote on the day articles go live and link to your site

After: We will continue to promote the article and recommend you link share the URL after your post

Comments

Responses: Guest bloggers are welcome to respond but not expected to answer comments on their blog unless we have arranged a specific Q & A session.

Negative responses: It is our policy to encourage debate. Although we have no obligation to monitor comments if there are any particularly negative or vitriolic comments or reports of abuse/bullying we will respond in accordance to our TERMS & CONDITIONS and  SOCIAL MEDIA & BLOG POLICY

Length:  Generally 500-1,000 words for a guest blog, a feature article, or series. We’ll develop a word count on a case by case basis.

Images

Please provide us with a 400×400 png or jpeg  of no more than 2Meg (Showing your  face or chosen avatar or image) If you want to use your own images/photographs in the article please do so.

Credits: We are happy to discuss how they should be credited.

Layout: We are happy to discuss where images/graphics should appear in the article but we work with our own house style.

Licenses: Please can you ensure images have appropriate licenses for us to use (Creative Commons usually will suffice) (see our TERMS & CONDITIONS)

Copyright & Ownership

Your content  remains Your property. However, by posting Your Content onto greatbritishcommunity.site, You grant to Great British Community/Link Up (UK)a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, royalty-free license (including full rights to sub-license) to use Your Content (see our TERMS & CONDITIONS).

Byline: We generally give guest bloggers ‘top billing’.

Format: Word doc or email is fine as we will apply our own GBC House style to the post.
